Question:
Are injectable fillers a good treatment for marionette lines? What particular filler is good for this and how long do results last?
Answer:
Injectable fillers are an excellent treatment for marionette lines, which are the small lines around the mouth on each side. Those lines can be best taken care of by any number of fillers. One in particular is Restylane which is a short-acting filler. This can sometimes be substituted with a filler called Juvederm which is chemically similar to Restylane, however it lasts much longer. Perlane is also an excellent filler for this area and I would be happy to recommend any of those particular fillers to solve this particular problem.
The results last anywhere from three months to a year depending upon the filler that is used and the individual patient. With some patients the fillers last longer while other patients experience a shorter duration. The only other treatment I would consider for marionette lines would be a laser treatment which is probably not as good as a filler in this area.
