Question:
For the consultation for blepharoplasty, what are some questions that I should plan on asking the surgeon?
Answer:
You should ask if the surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. You should ask if this is a procedure in which the surgeon specializes and how may he or she has done . You should view pictures of patients on whom the surgeon has performed the procedure. You may also want to speak to a few of those patients to see how their experience was. You should make sure you feel 100% comfortable with the surgeon and his or her staff. Ask about how to prepare for the surgery, what the after care is, and about the downtime after the procedure. You should ask when the sutures are removed, when you will look presentable, and what exercise and daily activity restrictions you will have. You may want to ask if there are any nonsurgical alternatives to achieving your goals and how long the effects of your procedure will last. You should also ask if the surgery will change your eye shape. Finally ask if you are not happy with the outcome of the results or if something goes wrong, what is the policy for further care and treatment.
