Question:
I had a small blister on the tip of my nose that I have noticed ever since the cast came off from my nose job. Is it a blister from the cast and will it eventually go away? Why would this have happened and is there anything I can do make it go away quicker?
Answer:
This is an unusual problem. The blister can be secondary to a number of different things: (1) it could be pressure-related from a cast that was too tight, (2) it could be related to a semi-dormant low-grade infection underneath the skin in the nose, and (3) it can also sometimes be related to a piece of material inside the nose like a suture that was placed during the surgery. The important thing is that the blister disappears within a reasonable period of time. Also, you should follow reasonable wound care like soaking and cleaning the area. If there is any question of infection, which would involve redness and tenderness, you should immediately see your surgeon and possibly be placed on antibiotics and have the area looked at extensively.
