Question:
I have had horribly dry skin on my face ever since my nose job. When can I start using all of my regular skin care products and when can I start doing treatments like facials and masks?
Answer:
Dry skin after a rhinoplasty is not uncommon. It happens for a number of reasons. Sometimes the disinfectants used during the rhinoplasty itself can cause some drying and also sometimes patients have reactions to the tape and other things that are placed on the nose after a rhinoplasty. Within 10 to 14 days after a rhinoplasty, when the tape and the splint are off, you should be able to go back on to your normal skin care products as long as they were not causing any problems prior to the surgery. For facials and masks, I would wait approximately four to six weeks just because of the pressure that can be applied to the area and, at that point, if everything is healed fine and your surgeon gives you permission, you can go back to having facials and masks.
