What are some of the more common complications associated with otoplasty surgery? If they do occur, how are they dealt with?
The biggest problem in otoplasty surgery is the fact that you have two ears and anytime you have two of something you have to be very careful to make sure that the surgery produces symmetry and that both ears look exactly the same. As for the surgery itself, rarely is there a problem with infection and rarely is there a problem with scarring. Again, most of the problems that would relate to otoplasty surgery have to deal with the fact that the ears may not be symmetric afterward and a good surgeon with a lot of otoplasty experience should be able to accomplish this for you without creating a problem.
